WHAT TO DO, WHAT TO DO?

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. Philippians 4:6

How do you overcome the anxiety of the unknown.  The unknown that is of what is to come next.  You've prepared yourself spiritually, you've gotten yourself together physically and emotionally and now all of that is out of the way you still are struggling mentally.  In your mind you are reminded of the bad decisions of your past.  The times that you recount in your mind of your past relationships that undoubtedly you contributed to either the decision to enter into it or to continue in it and yielded less than a favorable outcome.  Clearly, that's the reason why we're here today and one of "all tha single ladies".

I want to talk about getting past the anxiety in your mind of making yet another mistake.  I know it must be looming in some of your minds.  This has been almost a place of fear in my mind as well and certainly God does not want us walking in a place of fear.  He has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love and a sound mind (2 Tim 1:7).  He has given us his word where we can draw strength from and grow our faith, so that when things that resemble fear present themselves to us we have something that dissimulates these assaults on our psyche.

The unknown such as new relationships or people who enter into our lives can cause us anxiety because we do not know if this is the Isaac we've been waiting on, or if its an Ishmael.  Naturally, we reflect back to our past and all of the hurt we've already gone through.  It is natural for our flesh to recount, but our spirit which is renewed day by day has a resilience that is unlike our flesh, it can pull from the resources of God's word and remind us of everything he has said and promised.

His word tells us to be anxious for nothing or do not be overcome with fear or distress, but instead when in doubt about whether God indeed has his hand in this new relationship or connection, go boldly to the throne of grace, put a petition before the Lord.  There is never a need to distress about something that God can surely clear up for you and give you clarity on the matter.  I like how King Jehosephat sought to seek the Lord 2 Chron 20 and how Hannah laid before the temple praying before God with such fervency that she was thought to be drunken.  Jesus said in Mark 11:22, "Have faith in God".  I'm asking you, can you do that?  Can you have faith in God not only when it's convenient, but as one who really trust in what he can do.  He said this to let us know because when we learn to have faith in God, we CAN ask whatever we will and he will do. When we have faith in God, we can speak to a mountain and tell it to move and it will. When we have faith in God, we can trust him to do whatever his word says he will do.

There are always going to be people coming in and out of your lives, some will be the hand of God, some not.  The question is will you allow God to give you direction in every aspect of your life?  Do not limit him to things you deem as spiritual and feel as if you can handle the rest.  It can become so easy to fall into our soulish selves and not be lead by the Spirit.

Remind yourself everytime you feel overwhelmed when meeting someone new and you begin to ask yourself is this the one.  No need to do that, try asking God is that the one, his response and answer is really the only true one that you need to hear.

God bless you wonderful women of God.  Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding!
